The Engagement {part 3 - keeping the secret}

"Mom, I need you to keep this ring and hide it!"
As my son handed me the gift bag with the ring in it, more emotions lept from my heart. I think on the inside I was screaming, "NO. You know I'm not that responsible. I can't find things I use every day, much less hide something and find it a month later." But on the outside once again, I was glad I got to be a part of such a special event.

But you have to know -- this secret -- it's killing me.

While I secretly write here to capture the moment, I'm ready for the secret to be revealed. I'm tired of avoiding my boy's girl for fear I'm going to blow the secret.

Are you a good secret keeper? You've probably guessed it, I'm not.

How are you doing with all those Christmas secrets? Are you having to avoid certain people so you don't spoil the surprise?

Don't you just love all those awkward moments that happen while you're trying to keep sweet, special secrets?

I am known as not being able to keep secrets but as I get older....I can by changing the subject?? sorta

Monica

I'm terrible at keeping secrets! Like you I'd have to avoid her for fear of giving in and telling out of complete excitement. How sweet that you were able to be a part of this special time, though!

I'm terrible at secrets! Especially when it comes to gifts that I've purchased for others. I want to give them away right away instead of waiting for a specific date. Even right now.. my husband knows what lay under the tree for him. Sad, I know, but I just can't seem to keep secrets from him. :)

BARBIE

I'm pretty good at keeping secrets! My kids love to look around for their gifts (the younger ones anyways), and this year I believe my daughter found her gifts. Oh well, she spoiled the surprise, not me!

Brittany

I'm pretty good at keeping normal, daily secrets...but this, this I would not be good at keeping!!

Congrats to you & your family.

Merry Christmas!

Ok, I'm a good secret keeper, but WOW! That's a secret. So excited for you and your family. Very fun.

Merry Christmas, Alene!

Very exciting... dying to see a picture of the ring! I'm not sure how far we're away from such a moment, but I'm excited thinking about it. I'll check back for an update in coming days.

Such a special bond exists for mothers and sons. I've got three of them, and then baby girl. So glad I have her as well. She got her ears pierced today... a smaller, yet treasured milestone!

Merry Christmas, Alene.

you are the ring-keeper - what an honor!!! can't wait for the big question! it will be a very special Christmas at your house!

Alene

Being the keeper-of-the-ring is HARD. There's too many secrets this time of year, especially with this on top of it all. Thanks precious friends. Barbie and Elaine - can't wait to hear your stories.
