No Disclaimer Clause

I find it totally awesome when God uses your own words to teach you a lesson. My article just came out in WHOA Magazine and as I read it, I realized I STILL had some forgiving to do!

I won't be looking for a disclaimer clause this time. NOPE, I think I'll just begin the process of forgiving.

Wings, Worries, and Worms

I'm not really sure what I expected in becoming an "empty nester", but learning flexibility was not it.

At the beginning of this year, the house became awfully quiet as we were down to just one child living at home. It was too quiet, I admit, but I was adjusting. I was learning how to shop and cook for just three in the household. I was getting familiar with the new schedule that was a little more freeing.

Well, all that was interrupted by the phone call. I'm sure you know what phone call that was, "Mom, can I move back home?" (For the rest of the story . . . you just have to keep up with me over at my new column Wings, Worries, and Worms at Exemplify Online.)

Let me just say, the past six months have been a journey. I'm learning that in becoming an empty nester you must exercise great flexibility. Did I say GREAT FLEXIBILITY? Learning to be flexible is all so worth it when you get a note that says, "I'm so blessed that I have wonderful parents that will take me back home and shelter me."

Many of us spend our lifetime trying to "find" the one thing to which God has called us -- in other words, we long to know our purpose. We want to know our purpose (period). We want to claim it and then put a period there. But that limits God and our way of seeing God.

As Brian Houston says above your holy calling is lived out every day, in every situation. There is  no (period). There are only commas to God's holy calling.

Simply put . . . our purpose is to acknowledge and worship Him every day in every situation.

Interrupted . . . I'm at Mel's World Today

I love Mel's World. I can't believe I get to be one of her, Melissa Mashburn's, Godly Gals today!  When she wrote about this series she spoke my language . . . stories from everyday, ordinary REAL gals. Yep! Yep! Yep! That's me - everyday, ordinary curly-headed me from south Texas. Yeehaw!!!

Here in south Texas it is HOT, HOT, HOT!! While I am soaking up the sun, I'm remembering that seasons come and seasons go! And I’m not just talking Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall either. There are many types of seasons . . .

Seasons in your life. Seasons when it's hot. Seasons when it's cold. Seasons in your children’s lives. Seasons in ministry. Seasons. Seasons. Seasons . . .

Everywhere I turn these days it seems God is interrupting my life and bringing a new season. Although, most seasons come with anticipation – they certainly interrupt life as to the way we knew it before. I don’t know about you, but I don’t handle interruptions very well. I rebel. I squawk. I question. I kick and scream. Why? I have no idea, because what I’ve noticed is God usually gets His way. Yes, He interrupts our routined lives for a purpose.
