I'm Not Ready

As I’ve spent time praying over the year ahead today, I’ve realized God has opened doors for some incredible opportunities. These opportunities will not only give me a chance to share God’s amazing love, but they will grow me as a leader.

Ooh-wee! Becoming the leader I need to be is a scary thing because it brings with it such enormous responsibility.

I’ve read many leadership books, but there is something different about actually putting that knowledge into practice.

How do I lead a team for a greater purpose? How do I lead so that the team feels like a team? How do I share the vision? How do I? How do I . . . ?

I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.

I’m excited. I’m being challenged; however, I know I’m not ready.

Yep -- I’m not ready! Yikes, but I’m going anyway.

I’m stepping out where I’ve been called, even when I feel I’m not ready.

Luke 12:47-48, “"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

I’m standing on the that fact that if God has called me to it – He will see me through it. Thank goodness!

Do you have any helpful advice for leading others? For creating a team atmosphere? If so, I’d love to hear about it!

I find the best way to lead and create a team atmosphere is relationship. I find when a team feels comfortable with each other, they do better. Maybe a kick off BBQ? I know that you will do a great job. You have what it takes.

I was asked to be the program coordinator for our abortion recovery ministry at CPC where I volunteer.I have never considered myself as a leader and I was sure that they had made a mistake when they offered me the position. But this unspeakable subject "abortion" has always been close to my heart because of my "choice" 18 years ago.

It has been over a year since I said "yes" to something that only God could prepare me for and He has. Our ministry,Beyond the Choice is made up of 6 women and they all have special gifts to add to this ministry.

God has so far lead 10 women to the center to go through the program so they to can be set free from thier secret. We had our first seminar on June 6 to inform pastors, counsulors and medical professionals about PAS. It was amazing!

Alene, I say all this to encourge you that when God has called you, for his purpose, He will go before you. I'm still amazed at the position he has given me and I know you will be too.

PS~ I just finished a book "The Next Generation Leader" by Andy Stanely. Even though it is written for youth pastors,I thought it had some great advice and insight.

You may not think you are ready but you are. When God calls me to do something I never thnk I am ready and when I get started I relized that he had me ready even if I didn't know it... You will be just, just trush and lean on him and you will do his for him...

Yes!! you can do it Alene. Pray about it and he will direct your heart. As a Women's Ministry Coordinator and support group leader, I find that just being yourself and sharing your heart about what your vision is for the group opens up the door for others to get to know you better. When in a group setting I have a getting to know you question sheet that I let everyone fill out, then I look over it when everyone is gone and it helps me to know a little more about each woman in the group,Woman like to participating, so open group discussions and sharing ideas makes the group feel like everyone has a part in creating and planning and it makes the group work together and helps everyone to be in one accord. I hope this helps a little.

I love this post, Alene, because I think we all feel this way at some point. I was petrified when I was offered the position of "leader". I hung up with my sweet friend who was passing the torch and immediately wrote in my journal how afraid I was at that moment. Then I picked up my devotional and the scripture for that day was Joshua 1:9 that says, ...don't be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you everywhere you go. That was a year and a half ago and He has been faithful. Not for a second have I walked this road alone! I'm sure you can say the same thing!
