Third Day

I was treated to an awesome day last Sunday. My cousin, Leslie, asked if I wanted to join her and her mom at the Third Day concert. (Side note: thanks Brian for getting sick - sorry!) Of course, I said yes. We went and ate before hand and had a wonderul relaxing evening.


When we finished eating Leslie gets a phone call from another friend. She tells us that rows 1-5 are meet and greet. Our tickets were row 5. We couldn't believe it!



We hurried over and sure enough they ushered us back to meet the boys. We got a free CD and they each signed it! I could have even brought my big camera, but we didn't know. So instead I whipped out my little handy-dancy Kodak Easyshare I thought I was going to have to sneak in. haha



It was a day to remember for sure. But the best was when the band took the stage. There aren't words to describe the feelings of that moment.

This is the Revelation tour. Third Day is touring with Revive (awesome, you have to check them out) and (Give Me Eyes) Brandon Heath.

A Different Kind of Day

Was yesterday my birthday? It sure seemed like it! However, I checked again this morning and today is my birthday. Yep, April 24th!

Yesterday did seem like my day; from noon on it was one get together after another. My kind of day! Seriously, I could do that everyday. I enjoyed having coffee with friends, birthday cake with my parents, sister and her family, and then birthday with my own family. Yesterday could have been my birthday.

With all the festivities yesterday, this morning I decided to take a “me” day for my “real” birthday. With my birthday money and gift certificates, I got my nails done and even went to Woodhouse Day Spas for an incredible pedicure. I was savoring that “me” time.

But I confess, by this afternoon, I was feeling kind of guilty. As I sat having a Woodhouse pedicure in the most serene, peaceful atmosphere sipping on my hot cinnamon tea I kept thinking of all the items on my to-do list and the people I needed to talk to.

It didn't take me long to realize me-days aren’t near as fun as they use to be. I use to have me-days everyday. My focus was on me constantly, or so it seemed.

I did enjoy my birthday gatherings and time of refreshment today. I loved spending an extra measure of time this morning thanking God for the MANY blessings he has given me throughout my life. It was incredible to count them one-by-one! I was amazed. Thank you Lord for so much!

Thank you for family, friends, health and the gift of another year!

Tomorrow I’ll be back to the calling set before me striving to be all God created me to be.

The Party Is Over or Is It?

The weekend with Courtney was incredible. We partied, we laughed, and we shared a Chinese birthday. I made Chinese (from scratch – thank you very much) and wrapped eggrolls while Curt and the girls made up fortunes for everyone. We typed up our fortunes and rolled them up with chopsticks in fanciful birthday napkins. It was the hit at the party. I admit the party ended way too soon.

A friend said yesterday she hated to ask me how I was doing since Courtney had to leave. But she could have asked, because I’m doing fine. I’ve got another party to go to. This party I am so excited about. I don’t know the guests, yet. I have no clue where it will be. But I do know one thing for certain – Jesus will be there.

As I head to Jackson, MS to speak to the Brown Bag Bible Buddies, I know I am headed to another party. We will eat together, we will share laughter and encouragement, but most importantly we will share Christ’s love.

Sharing Christ’s love should be a party we enter into everyday. As I speak about, “Our Secret Lives”, please pray with me that each of us there realizes it is those secrets, those things that keep us focused on ourselves that keep us from enjoying the party. The joy in our everyday life is greatly hampered when our heart is far from God.

Let’s stay focused on the true Joy-giver and . . .
Let the Party Begin!!
